U.S. troops pour into Afghan base
SOUTHERN AFGHANISTAN – More troops and equipment arrived at a secret U.S. Marine base in southern Afghanistan on Wednesday.
Taliban's Omar: "fight to death"
KABUL, Afghanistan – The Taliban's supreme leader radioed his commanders Wednesday and called on them to fight to the death against Americans in southern Afghanistan, where U.S. Marines were building up their forces at a desert base.
Fighters recover Taliban bodies
MAZAR-E-SHARIF, Afghanistan – In a fortress devastated by a bloody three-day uprising, alliance fighters dragged out bodies Wednesday from a courtyard strewn with 50 slain Taliban fighters, some with hands bound with black scarves.
