KABUL, Afghanistan – The Taliban displayed wires, wheels and twisted metal Wednesday that they said were parts of a U.S. helicopter they claimed to have shot down. The Pentagon denies losing any of its aircraft to hostile fire.

Opposition troops say they're closing in
JABAL SARAJ, Afghanistan – Aided by heavy U.S. bombing, opposition forces said they seized a district near Mazar-e-Sharif from Taliban forces Wednesday and were closing in on the key northern city.
