During
an end-of-the-year meeting with reporters in the Oval Office at the White
House in Washington, Friday, Dec. 21, 2001, President Bush said the United
States does not know the whereabouts of Osama bin Laden but vowed that the
terrorist mastermind will be found--dead or alive. With first lady Laura
Bush by his side, the president also discussed the sagging U.S. economy,
the mixed success of his domestic agenda and the fate of an American who
fought alongside the Taliban.
