KARACHI, Pakistan — The Taliban's consul-general in this Pakistani port city said Sunday ``we are ready for jihad'' following the attack by U.S. and British forces on Afghanistan.

``We condemn this attack,'' Rehmatullah Kakazada told The Associated Press. ``We have received word that a plane has bombed Kabul. We don't have any more information. We are ready for jihad,'' or holy war.

The diplomat then hung up the telephone. U.S. officials said the attack on Kabul was actually carried out by Tomahawk cruise missiles.
