Israeli planes strike Gaza City
GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip — Israeli warplanes bombed a police post in Gaza early Friday, keeping pressure on Yasser Arafat to arrest suspected terrorists. The attack came hours after 1,500 Hamas supporters battled Palestinian riot police to protest Arafat's crackdown.

Some victims were `vaporized'
NEW YORK – Three months after the World Trade Center attack, victims' families are being forced to face the ghastly possibility that many of the dead were "vaporized," as the medical examiner put it, and may never be identified.

Afghan political talks move forward
Talks on Afghanistan's political future moved into a decisive phase Saturday after the northern alliance said it was prepared to transfer power to a U.N.-backed interim council and allow an international security force, clearing the way for an agreement.
