Musharraf slips out of Pakistan for trip
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan – With violent protests at a minimum and key opposition clerics in detention, President Pervez Musharraf is confident enough to take his first foreign trip since Sept. 11, leaving his military government to deal with any threats at home.

Ambassador asked to stop propaganda
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan – Pakistan has told the Taliban ambassador – the most visible spokesman of the Islamic militia that rules Afghanistan – to stop using the embassy for propaganda after a series of internationally broadcast news conferences.

Qatari gunman killed
DOHA, Qatar – A Qatari gunman opened fire Wednesday on an air base used by U.S. military aircraft and was shot and killed by guards. The Pentagon didn't have any reports of Americans being wounded.
